SWP Calculator
Systematic withdrawal plan: how long your corpus lasts with fixed monthly withdrawals, and what's left at the end.
How to use the SWP calculator
- Enter corpus, monthly withdrawal, expected return and period.
- Read the balance at end at the top of the result, with total withdrawn, corpus lasts underneath. It updates as you type.
- Change one input at a time to see what moves the answer most, then save the result with Copy link or Download PDF.
About this tool
Useful for retirement income. If withdrawals exceed what the corpus earns, it shrinks; the 'lasts' line tells you when it runs out.
Worked example
With corpus of ₹50,00,000, monthly withdrawal of ₹30,000, expected return of 8% and period of 20 years:
| Balance at end | ₹69,63,401 |
| Total withdrawn | ₹72,00,000 |
At this rate the corpus earns more than you withdraw and is not used up.

Questions people ask
How is SWP taxed?
Each withdrawal is treated as a redemption, so only the gain portion is taxed as capital gains, which can be lower than tax on FD interest.
What is a safe withdrawal rate?
Many planners use 3–4% of the corpus a year, rising with inflation, for retirements of 30 years or more.
